Her Happy Place Was Blue

She lived in a world
that forced her to be
black when she
wanted to be blue.
The world made her
black – dark like
clouds of thunder; ominous
and full of fear. She wanted
nothing more than to
be blue – full of opportunities
and with endless possibilities.

Blue could be synonymous
with the sky of a
new day, or with
tears mourning the
loss of a loved one-
it fills the end, middle and
beginning of every possible
spectrum.

Black was scary
and one sided.
She wanted to be
multifaceted, like
the colour blue.
