Child in Adult’s Clothing

The little girl
was robbed of
a true apology;
she had all
notions of fairness
stolen from her.

She grew up
and though she thought
she forgave,
she could never quite manage
to forget.

She was unaware
of the anger and
resentment that she
harboured within.

She yelled and
she cried
she made every molehill
into Mount Everest.

She reverted to
that little girl
when she was with
the people who she felt
had stolen from her.

She grew up,
she never forgot,
she never truly forgave;
because that little girl
needed to be avenged.
