Lost in Space

I do not ever recall
ever fully fitting in.
I was the same,
but different.

It was as if they were
all socks from a set;
and my match had been
lost in the dryer.

I was missing
a piece of myself.
It was floating somewhere
out in the universe

And I could not
help but wonder
if that piece
ever misses me –
the way that I miss it.

  1. This was beautiful. But I can’t help but think, perhaps somewhere some house elf has been set free with the aid of your missing sock. Perhaps it is on a journey back to you, but do not wait too long. Go barefoot and dance in the long grass and never mind those who insist upon wearing shoes.
